Big Sky is an unincorporated Rocky Mountain community in southern Montana, about an hour northwest of Yellowstone National Park. Located 7 miles and roughly a 10-minute drive from the base of Big Sky Resort, the downtown Big Sky area is comprised primarily of the Big Sky Town Center and Meadow Village. Just off of HWY 191 south of Bozeman, these areas are the Big Sky epicenter for restaurants, breweries/bars, shopping, and services.
If you want to be closer to the Gallatin River, Nordic Ski Trails, Big Sky Golf Course, or most of the area’s popular events and activities we highly recommend staying in the Big Sky town areas. Additionally, many guests who find consistent high elevation exposure over-exerting, frequently choose to stay in the lower elevation offered by Meadow Village and Big Sky Town Center.
